Last year we helped St Andrew's church plant a small patch of wild flower meadow in the children's play area. This year with the help of a grant from Elmbridge Borough Council we have been busy planting wild flower plug plants under the hedges at the crossroads in the village. Look out for the Blue Hearts which will mark areas planted up for pollinators. If you would like to nominate a grass verge near you for seeding with wild flowers and you or neighbours can help look after it, get in touch and we can either offer moral or practical support! In May 2025, we welcomed a trained facilitator to lead a few of us in a Climate Fresk workshop. The idea is that participants build a picture of the climate crisis by arranging themed cards into an interrelated web. It was sobering indeed but very informative and clear. If you are interested in having a Climate Fresk workshop for a group of colleagues or friends (about 8 people) please get in touch.
There were lots of crafts and games including making junk sea creatures (see the magnificent octopus opposite!); making decorations out of recycled paper and a Trash Fashion game.
On a more serious note all of the girls made a promise for how they would reduce their personal use of plastic and as a group they wrote to local MP Dr Ben Spencer.
The results of their efforts were displayed at the May repair cafe and sparked some interesting conversations.
Well done to the girls and to Helen and Adrienne for running such an informative and fun session.
Check out our Plastic Free Oxshott page if you would like to reduce plastic either as an individual, a business or a local group.

At the end of March and beginning of April 2025, Oxshott Net Zero took part in the Junior Citizens event provided by Elmbridge Borough Council which took place at Sandown Race Course. A small group of plucky leaders ran a fun workshop on greenhouse gases and the six shifts to a more sustainable lifestyle described by Take the JUMP. Over the course of 8 days we spoke to almost 1000 year 6 pupils from all over the borough. That's a lot of year 6's...
We were delighted to talk to the Trefoil Guild in March all about the work of Oxshott Net Zero and how to get involved locally. We enjoyed the beautiful facilities at the new Oxshott Community Hub.
If you would like a talk or fun workshop on Take the JUMP or just a general introduction to our work, please get in touch. We're always happy to help.
